| Writer's Block: Seeing stars |
[27 Oct 2009|08:28pm] |

It's no contest really. Dr Spencer Reid is totally my dream date. 1. He has like 3 doctorates and 2 degrees and is a certifiable genius, so we would totally win any trivia night and had stimulating dinner conversation 2. He knows all about serial killers and I'm secretly into true crime, so we could discuss psychos and cults and have stimulating dinner conversation 3. He wears cardigans, mismatched socks and has glasses. Enough said. 4. He can do magic. Yes, that stuff impresses me. 5. He is cute and gangly and his awkwardness is very endearing. And tall, I love tall. 6. He is probably more socially inept that I am, so I wouldn't feel so awkward in his presence.
I would also say yes, to dates with the following:
 Awkward. Funny. Musician.
Awkward. Geeky. Tech savvy. Sweet. Tall. Loves sandwiches.
Shy. Ghost hunter. Attractive brother. Very, very tall.

This question probably could not have come at a better time for me.
I'm having issues with my current job. I went from having the best casual job ever, to counting down the minutes until my shift was over. Basically, we have a new manager and whilst she is a nice person, she is a pretty rubbish manager. I can't really complain or do anything right now, as a lot of what me (and my fellow employees) don't like is just 'subjective' and will be told, it's just getting used to a different management style, but it's not.
I've gone from thinking that I'd stay in retail for the next year (to supplement my income if I start working full-time elsewhere), to at this point, wanting to be out of here in February.
In better news, I am actually on my way to working in an industry I'm actually interested in! I don't know if I've mentioned it here before, but I'm interning for a literary agent (have been doing so for about a month), and she's now going to pay me for out-of-office reading and writing reader's reports on manuscripts! She has also promised to look into more paid reader positions for me (with publishing houses!!!)
Right now for me, this is my dream position. Getting paid to read! And hopefully this is my foot in the door to publishing. I don't know exactly what my 'dream job' is and am yet to have the 'this is what I'm mean't to be doing', but I do think I'm headed on the right track.

| Blog |
[03 Oct 2009|12:41pm] |
I've been in front of the computer all morning, and I've finally worked out how to edit/publish things on my blog (I swear I'm not normally so slow haha)
Anyway, ta-da! It still needs some work, but hopefully it doesn't look totally ugly on your screens. Feel free to add it/friend it/follow it or whatever people in blog-land do and I'll get posting as soon as I get the swing of this thing.
"Simply the Best? A Year of Oscar Films"
Um yeah, so technically that entry was written a month ago, but I only just added links in and am still (slooooowly) learning how to use Blogger. Patience will be rewarded (someday. maybe)

| Did Doogie Howser just steal my fucking car? |
[22 Sep 2009|11:46pm] |
Neil Patrick Harris is all kinds of awesome. Seriously. The last two Emmys sucked arse (I'm looking right at you Ryan Secreast. So, so, so much hate), especially last year's 'reality tv' hosts (which, by the way Emmy committee, if you are going to do that, you may want to include the greatest reality tv presenter Phil Keogh, whose show only wins for Best Reality ever year. Duh)
Red carpet thoughts in a nutshell: Yay for: Drew Barrymore, Christina Hendricks (proves that girls with naturally big boobs don't need to have them all out or wear a Nanna dress), Tina Fey (love love love, she does no wrong in my eyes), Toni Collette, Christina Applegate, Elizabeth Moss (whatever fashion police, I thought her dress was demure and gorgeous), Kristin Chenowith, Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
I won't go into much else or it will get ranty, but all I will say is that I actually cried when Cheno won. I love her and was so happy that she got recognised, even if Pushing Daisies is no more (as much as I'm obsessed with Chuck's wardrobe, it is Olive who is by far my favourite character)

| Writer's Block: Finders keepers? |
[09 Sep 2009|10:29pm] |
If it's in a public place, like a pub/library/shop whatever, I always always hand it in. It's happened before, and not to sound nerdy/self-righteous, but I always hand it in. When I was about 15, I went to lunch with my cousin at a cafe on Chapel Street and I accidently left my handbag under the table. We didn't realise for about 3 hours after getting home, and called back there that night. Not only had my bag been handed in, the money that was in my purse (only about $40, but it was a lot for 15-year-old me, who didn't have a job) was still there. Long story short, it would have been easy for someone to nick my bag/pocket the money and they didn't, so karma, I will always turn in bags/money/phones/ipods etc.

| Writer's Block: How Rude! |
[04 Sep 2009|10:18pm] |
Tonight at work these three kids came in and asked if I had anything for free. I thought that was pretty rude. And they said it like that "can we have anything for free ... what about these stickers?" (which are clearly marked $1). They were at least 10 and old enough to know better. Clearly, they are not yet equipped them with the valuable life lesson that goods + money = purchase
I get a lot of rude questions from customers, now I think about it. Like how much money I earn. Is that information really critical for you to make a purchase from the shop I work in? No.

I have officially started a new blog. It stemmed from one of my 43things goals and will be centered around writing about film.
Anyway, I'm not posting the link yet as it is still ugly and won't have any content up until the weekend, but yay it is still pretty exciting (I actually borrowed blogging for dummies books haha) and hopefully will be much nicer when there is actually some writing on there :D

I've pretty much been listening to this song/watching the video on a loop for the past two or so weeks. I have an addictive personality like that - I'll become obsessed with a song/movie/person for a short while and just watch/listen to them over and over and then slowly let go of it. Anyway, this is my current one. It's just so cute and catchy. And Zachary Levi's cardigan and victory dance are full of win.
kidness you have to watch this for some ~sexy~ Dick Casablancas dancing. For realz.

| Gimme a head with hair, long beautiful hair |
[28 Aug 2009|10:52pm] |
Today I saw Taking Woodstock. There was four other people in the cinema. The film was amazing. I had already read Elliot Tiber's book of the same name and was so pumped. I was not disapointed. Especially because Jonathan Groff is a stone fox.

Hell yeah. He is a quite a cute guy anyway, but for some reason he becomes hotter the dirtier/longer his hair gets. Here is some hippie Groff spam for my (and possibly your) viewing pleasure

That is all.

| Writer's Block: Good Days and Bad Days |
[20 Aug 2009|09:04pm] |
My least favourite day of the week is probably Wednesdays - by Wednesday night, I usually go 'the week is half over and I've done nothing!'. Also, I work all day every second Wednesday, five hours alone in the store :(
My favourite days are Sundays and Mondays. Sunday because it's usually just so relaxed and I never do anything because 'well, it's Sunday, I'm supposed to be lazy'. I also like Mondays funnily enough. I am very big on fresh starts, so Monday is my new beginning to the week, the only day I make goals and try to achieve them haha.

2nd choice would be Jasper. As long as he sings me Confederacy songs while he does it. Just saying.

Just heard some possibly exciting little news (well exciting to me!)
SPRING AWAKENING (the musical) will apparently be opening in Australia at the end of the year/early next year!!!!!!!
Hell to the yes!
Heard it from a pretty reliable source too, so fingers crossed it is true. I think if marketed correctly, SA has the potential to do really well out here.

| Tony Awards Part Deux |
[09 Jun 2009|04:36pm] |
10. Wow, John Stamos = still hot. Uncle Jesse hasn't aged. 11. Awww Jen Damiano took Jonathan B. Wright as her date! Nawwwwww. Spring Awakening hook-ups, yay! 12. Yay, Karen Olivo. I love that theatre people are so much more emotional when accepting awards haha 13. Next to Normal - I haven't heard almost any of the music from this show, but it seems pretty good/intense. Less 'showy' than some of the other performances (which I must admit, I'm a sucker for the full-on, sequins-and-tap-dancing, balls-out number) 14. Oh Aaron Tveit! He has a very nice jawline and chin. Oh and can sing well too. 15. Jessica Lange looks to have aged very well. And I love that she put her glasses on to read the teleprompter :D 16. I do feel bad that the smaller awards don't get to be completely aired, with the winner's speech just getting a sentence or two of screen time. 17. Marcia Gay Harden looks fantastic 18. Edie Falco sitting behind James Gandolfini!!!!!!! And they exchanged a little laugh 19. I didn't realise that the Tony's also used the shoo-music to get award winners off stage. You'd think theatre people would be a little more understanding 20. Billy Elliot was great. Certainly seems to be cleaning up the awards so far. Making me wish I'd gotten off my butt and got to the Mlebourne season earlier as it's closing very very soon
21. Ahh Harvey Finerstein's speaking voice hurts my ears. Guh 22. Yay for Jerry Herman getting the Lifetime Achievement award 23. OMG HAIR!!!! FINALLY!!! 23A. MMMM GAVIN CREEL 23B. STEAMING, FLAXEN, WAXEN 23C. I WANT TO JOIN THE CAST OF HAIR. KTHANX 23D. WILL SWENSON GIVING AN AUDIENCE MEMBER A CARWASH (if you haven't ever seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a carwash involves standing over someone who is sitting, and kind of thrusting in their face/over their head) 23E. Orignally I was thinking Jon Groff > Gavin Creel but my mind is 85% changed 23F. LEAPFROG 23G. I love shows that involve aisle-dancing 24. OK, ITS OFFICIALLY. 100% BARRACKING FOR HAIR FTW 25. Cheno! I don't care what anyone else says, I love her. 26. Best Revival ...... HAIR! I literally screamed a little 27. I love that everyone involved just flooded the stage - as in 35+ people 28. Lead Actress - Alice Ripley. She yelled when she accepted her Tony. Good for her. 29. Awww boys from Billy Elliot all winning. So cute in their little suits! So cute and awkward 30. Gavin Creel, I unfortunately realised, not-so-hot without the wig
31. Jersey Boys. Good, but still not enough it in for me to justify $100 for a ticket in Melbourne. I think I'd rather go see Chicago with Caroline O'Connor instead. 32. Best Musical - Billy Elliot. Ok, now I feel really dumb for not going to our production. Had a feeling it might win from reading the pre-Tony buzz. Haha, all the kids on the stage were pretty much peeing themselves with excitement. 33. Yay for NPH closing the show with a song! Fantastic!
OK, so this post probably wasn't of any amusement to anyone but myself haha.
